Building Design

BEEP worked with around 34 builders and developers and provided technical assistance in developing energy efficient and thermally comfortable designs for a wide diversity of projects including affordable housing, multi-storey residential buildings, offices, hospitals, schools, large campuses, institutes, etc. from both, public and private sector builders for a total built-up area of about 9.5 million m2. These projects have 25-40% estimated energy savings and /or improvement in thermal comfort. Out of these one residential building is likely to become the first net-zero energy residential building in India. This also includes support to Smart GHAR III in Rajkot, an affordable housing project under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) which houses 1176 families.

BEEP supported BEE in development of NEERMAN (National Energy Efficiency Roadmap for Movement towards Affordable and Natural habitat) Awards, a national award scheme to recognise exemplary building design and catalyse Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) and Eco-Niwas Samhita (ENS) adoption. The first cycle resulted in recognising 10 building projects and 3 state designated agencies (SDA).
