The objective of this sub-study is to quantify the thermal performance of the building envelopes of residential buildings having low and high RETV. The thermal performance will be quantified and analysed on the basis of internal operative temperature and discomfort degree hours (DDH). Operative temperature can be defined as the average of the mean radiant and ambient air temperatures. DDH is the sum of hourly temperature differences between indoor operative temperature and IMAC-R9 band maximum temperature indoor, if indoor operative temperature is more than the IMAC-R band maximum temperature.
- Affordable housing in terms of apartment size and type
- Naturally ventilated dwelling units, i.e., without air-conditioning.
- While the impact of both wall and window properties will be analysed, the focus is on understanding the impact of wall properties on thermal performance, during the hot months of the year.
